Interview: Justin Pearson - Part 2
/Hey hey, it's Jonathan Hischke back for Pedals & Effects, here to present round two of my interview with Justin Pearson- (or JP)- of the Locust, Head Wound City, Dead Cross and many more. If these little episodes had titles or themes, I think this one could be called 'Accidents'. As we all know, both happy accidents and not so happy ones are often what lead us to new breakthroughs, interesting creations and fresh approaches to the things we do....and JP is no exception.
In this segment, JP discusses how rolling with the realities of his his life on the road has resulted in him finding his signature gear, which then helped him create a unique approach to his instrument and music. We hear more about his early influences in harsh noises and genre malpractice, dig into the histories of some of his sonically challenging cohorts, and get a few road warrior solutions to some typical gear problems. This segment also serves as a warm-up to part 3- which will focus on JP's pedalboard- as we get into a little bit of the backstory of his relationship with the holy grail known as the Schumann PLL pedal! Enjoy!
