Demo: Ashdown's Octa Dose Octave Pedal

Ashdown Engineering has developed a line of pedals under the name Dr. Green Pedals, offering reverb, compressor, envelope and fuzz pedals. But if you know us, what Pedals And Effects is most interested in, is their sub octave Octa Dose! Ashdown bass amplifiers got famous, early on, for their bass heads that came with a sub harmonic octave knob. I remember a bunch of bassists talking about these heads and this function. I tried them out and I was blown away with the sub harmonic knob but I have always dreamed about this knob being made in a stompbox…and here it is!

Ashdown explains, they expanded on their “tried and tested sub harmonizer originally included in the ABM range of bass amplifiers, (which delivers an octave lower than the note played), the Octa Dose has upped the flexibility with Direct and Octave contols making it easy to dial in anything from subtle thickening undertones to full on sub synth bass.” I put it to the test on this video and I found it so much better than their original octave pedal that I previously reviewed on Pedals And Effects.
