  • The Unknown Russian Distortion Pedal [review]

Every now and then, you find a pedal that you have never seen and heard of and you wonder if it is a hidden gem or a dud. Jack at Future Music in Los Angeles found this pedal and held it for me, knowing I would be one person who would dig it. It is an over the top, radically distorted and super noisy pedal. The key to this pedal is it’s built in filter that gets such a midrange to highrange top end. I hope you can see why I would be so excited to put this video up. Not because this is an unknown pedal but because it is finds like this that make what I do so exciting. It is like mining for gold!

Hey Juan, those pedals were actually quite common all over eastern europe in the late 90′s and early ’00s. The company is russian and they are still making these effects. As a matter of fact they are a crazy company; they make a lot of non-guitar related products. Check them out I am sure they will be able to hook you up with that delay you are looking for.

I have several of those Lell pedals myself, including at least 5 of the delays (with modulation)

    Hey man,
    if you are still interested,
here is the official website for this company,
I’m russian myself, so it was quite easy to find.
The website is unfortunately in russian, so you might want to use some google translate on that:)
    Cheers!

Ah I love this kind of weird unknown pedals that you pick second hand in a pawn shop, not knowing what it will sound like … whatever comes out of it, I believe there’s always a way to use it. Even with the crapiest piece of gear you still can make weird sci-fy industrial noise ;)

I’d love to hear that in the mix! The El Grande from MXR does a great job approaching those metallicky tones but doesn’t quite have the digital clarity/endurence of this Lell pedal. Have you tried the El Grande? The official review video from MXR is awful !

Hey Juan, you mentioned, Girls Against Boys, and how they have two bassists in their band…I was wondering if there are any other bands that rock with two bassist? If anyone else knows of any please spout them out, because I love bass!
