The 12 Days of PedalsAndEffects, Day 10: Earthquaker Devices’ Crimson Drive, Rainbow Machine AND Bit Commander
I am such a huge fan of Earthquaker Devices that I’m going to perform at the upcoming NAMM show for them to showcase some of the incredible pedals they make. I think Jamie, the creator of Earthquaker Devices, is the hottest pedal designer in the business right now- his line of pedals are helping to shape musicians’ sounds worldwide. His fuzz pedals, like the Hoof Reaper Octave Fuzz, are phenomenal…as seen here on PedalsAndEffects:
His Rainbow Machine is one of the most unique pedals ever made:
This video doesn’t do the pedal justice so please take my word. The Rainbow Machine is such a musical pedal because it gives any normal sound a truly psychedelic and futuristic element. I combine this pedal with his Organizer and it makes me feel as if I can fill the gaps just like a synthesizer would.
The Bit Commander has an entirely higher level of synthesizer pedal tricks than most other pedals. It has a sub knob that is two octaves down, which I crank all the way so I can shake the entire room. Then it has an octave down, an octave up, and a base square signal to get you in the synthetic area. All that plus a filter knob to dial it all in to your mix. This results in everyone in your band telling you to turn down! I shake bottles off of bars with this one, and you can too.
Earthquaker Devices’ new Crimson Drive is set to take on all overdrives because it delivers pure, uncompressed tone to your amplifier. It’s like cranking up an SVT or Marshall amplifier all the way. Earthquaker Devices puts all the attention into the electronics and keeps the functions simple with Gain, Level and Drive knobs. I put the Crimson Drive before their Hoof Reaper Octave Fuzz and it kicks that fuzz into overdrive!
Enter this contest and maybe you will win what I think are three of the hottest pedals in the last couple of decades. The Crimson Drive, The Rainbow Machine and the Bit Commander are all indispensable to me and what I do.
